Purdie Herman "PH" McClenny, Jr., 89, died Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

"PH" was born in Sampson County, NC to the late Purdie Herman McClenny, Sr. and Annie Jackson McClenny. When he was not working in his garage, you could find "PH" out working in his garden. In addition to his parents, also preceding him in death are his brothers, Frank, Bobby, Percy, Gene and Carlton McClenny, and his sister, Magdalene Johnson.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Georgia W. McClenny, of the home; daughter, Janet M. Riggsbee and husband, Jake; sisters, Geraldine Wood and Linda Davis; grandson, Rev. Matt Riggsbee and wife, Lauren; and granddaughter, Katie Riggsbee. Also surviving are his great-granddaughters, Lillian and Penelope Riggsbee.

Rev. Matt Riggsbee will conduct a graveside service on Saturday, January 13, 2018 in Cedarwood Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial donations be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 1405 Bolling Road, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
